Bareda
A PRINCE IN THE MAKING
"I used to make my mom buy me Word Up magazines so I could hang the pictures on my wall," rapper Bareda sites the level of influence that his all time favorite rapper, Notorious B.I.G. had on him.
In the summer of 2008 Bareda recorded a "thank God it's Friday" dance track called "Bank Roll". Unexpectedly the track caught the ears of DJs Q Deezy and Cosmic Kev (Power 99 FM Philly's 1 station) and was featured on their Friday night broadcast, "The Come Up Show". The response was greatly appreciated by Bareda who began to see his childhood passion materialize into what he had always dreamed.
Bareda, born Deshon Pygatt in the "Uptown" section of Philly, fell in love with music when he heard "Thriller". In his neighborhood he would "mess around" and rap with his friends. But it was ultimately striving to be better than his godbrother, that vested his interest in rapping. In early pursuit of his dream, he would sing and rap at various talent shows. An integral part of his success has been the support that he receives from his mother and his brother; both of whom he sites as his heroes. His Mom brought him his first Karaoke machine with a CD and tape deck and he began to make his own demos over industry instrumentals. It was his brother, who stepped up when Bareda lost his father at age six, that took him to the studio for his first recording experience.
At thirteen he moved to West Philly and picked up the name Bareda. He attended University City High School where we would battle everybody at any chance that he got whether it was in the hallway or the lunch room. Emerging from the school battles came, Double Jeopardy, a duo that Bareda formed with Keith Turner aka Mook Money. Double Jeopardy hooked up with Rick Young, CEO of The Beat Factory. They began to develop themselves under the production of Rick Young, Kwame, and J Strong. After one year Double Jeopardy went their separate ways. Bareda turned what could've been an excuse to give up, into inspiration to go further. He began to concentrate heavily on building his reputation in the street. In 2005 he became affiliated with Headshot Records run by Young Bob. Through this affiliation he was featured on numerous mixtapes and DVDs.
March 17, 2007 Bareda became a father. He then had two motivations, the pursuit of his dream and the responsibility of taking care of new born, Madison. Both motivations made his ultimate focus, getting away from the nonsense that surrounded him in the streets. In October of 2008, Bareda faced the tragic loss of a good friend and rap protege Rasheed aka Ready Rock. One morning after putting in a hard night's work at the studio working on his highly anticipated mixtape, Son of a Gun; Bareda received a call that his friend had been murdered. Bareda knew that his life had to change once Rock was gone. He realized that life is too short and that you have to live every moment to the fullest.
"I made a promise to myself that I would dedicate everything I do to Rock. I'll do everything in his name. This is always what he talked about...I hope you there in heaven watching over me. I love you and I miss you. Underdoggz for life." He keeps Rocks memory close to his heart as added security. He's focused even more now, creating chaos with the sound of his cocky and vibrant Philly flavor.
